Flower delivery has, with
some reason, taken a bit of environmental slack
recently. Long haul pesticide covered flowers being
chaufered to their destination is incredibally carbon
intensive and leaves the growers with a tiny fraction
of the selling price.
Footprint
flowers is an online marketplace for environmentally
conscious UK flower growers to
supply flowers directly to customers. We have
gone
to great lengths to ensure that the suppliers
conform to our rigorous standards and the process
(which we double offset) has a fraction of the
carbon footprint of florist services such as Interflora.
The unique part of the
site is that growers set their own prices depending
on stock and fulfil the order themselves. Registered
organic growers grow indiginous seasonal flowers.
When ready for picking they simply enter the amount
of flowers they have available each day and set
the price depending on season and supply. As flowers
are ordered online the stock is automatically
redced. Clients can create their own bunches using
a cost per stem or opt for a recommended arrangement.
Growers can choose to receive orders by email
or text so they can cut and pack the orders on
the sames day and un-ordered flowers stay in the
soil until required. By cutting out wholesalers,
florists and supermarkets they can maximise their
revenue, minimise the cost to their customers
and supply fresher more environmentally sustainable
flowers.
